Mental Toughness Is Built On Bad Days
Saturday April 6, 2019
Mental toughness is the ability to remain positive and proactive in the most adverse of circumstances. Think about that for a second.
The most adverse circumstances.
In other words, a positive attitude when things are going well is a good start, but the only time it truly matters is when shit hits the fan. What do you do when things go poorly in training or competition? Do you let yourself spiral downward, second guessing your abilities? Or can you acknowledge and accept whatever happens and move on with complete confidence?
In training and competition, tough times require mentally tough responses.
Like any skill, mental toughness takes practice.
Recognize that the only time you’ll get to practice it is when you’re having a bad day.
Every time you choose to respond productively, you make yourself more mentally formidable. Every time you choose to react negatively, you spin your wheels.
What will you choose?
